Jiří Suchánek (CZ)
Jiri Suchanek is a cultural professional with vast experience in international projects related to marketing, tourism, arts and culture. He acted as the CEO of the Pilsen – European Capital of Culture 2015 project [total value 20 mil EUR]. Between 2008 and 2010 he worked for the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Head of Production for the Czech Pavilion at World EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as the Director of the second largest corporate foundation in the Czech Republic, the OKD Foundation, responsible for the development of areas affected by the coal mining industry. In 2017 he led the cultural program for the Czech Pavilion at EXPO2017 in Astana [Kazakhstan]. He is also the founder of several festivals focusing on sports, culture and craftsmanship. Currently he is in charge of the Creative Zone DEPO2015 in Pilsen – among other projects producer of the Festival of Light BLIK BLIK, Pilsen Design Week and Treffpunkt Festival. He is also responsible for artistic part of the light festival PRISMA in Aveiro [Portugal] and major event in his home town Sobotka [Czech paradise] – festival of music and craft Sobotecky jarmark. Jiri is also a member of the Selection and Monitoring Panel for European Capital of Culture. Jiri is a passionate but a bit lazy tennis player, runner, food lover and chef, music fan and happy father of two kids.
