Christina Grimm (USA)
Californian singer-songwriter Christina M. Grimm (aka Christina Grimm) writes in a variety of styles ranging from folk-rock, blues and soft jazz, to inspirational songs. In addition to compositions for her own concerts, she also creates original lyrics and translates German lyrics into English for other performers. The SUISA member is now a resident of Zurich, where she performs and teaches writing classes.
While living in Santa Barbara/California, Christina Grimm recorded her No Time to Be Blue CD in 2008 and received this review: “Imbued with passion, personal appeal, humor and life, Grimm is a highly entertaining figure… using pop, folk, rock, and blues as backdrops for her intricate and subtle story songs.”
From 2008 to 2011, she produced monthly concerts for the Santa Barbara Songwriter Showcase and a television program by the same name. She has studied with many well-known songwriting teachers through the years, beginning with Buddy Kaye (lyricist for Elvis Presley) while earning her Master of Fine Arts at the UCLA Film School with a focus on screenwriting. She still remembers Kaye’s advice to songwriters: “A song is like a three-minute movie.”
Christina Grimm later took composition courses at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles and studied with hit songwriters Pete & Pat Luboff. She also worked at the Durango Songwriter Expo as a volunteer for six years, producing the opening showcase for two of the expos.
After moving to Constance/Germany in 2011, she crossed the border to connect with the Swiss music scene. Together with Kate Northrop, she started the Zurich Songwriter MeetUp – which offers a monthly Songwriter Circle, showcases, and workshops – in 2014. She relocated to Zurich in 2015 and has been performing concerts and teaching writing classes since then.
Christina Grimm is currently recording her Songs & Stories (working title) project. For audio and lyric samples, see www.ChristinaGrimmMusic.com.
