Lisbon-born Nuno Saraiva moved to Canada at the age of 12, and studied in Canada throughout his high-school, university and post-graduate years achieving an Honours Double-Major B.A. in English and French language and literature, with a Joint Specialist in Portuguese Translation from the University in Toronto, as well as a B.Ed from the University of Windsor. He began working in the Canadian music industry in 1995 with the founding of his own record label and music publisher.
Upon relocating to Europe, Saraiva founded SCL Consulting and Lusitanian Music Publishing; was a Board Member of Network Europe (2010-2012), a booking agents’ association and a Board member of musicaPT (2012-2013), the Portuguese Agents Association. In 2012 he co-founded AMAEI, the Portuguese Independent Music Trade Association, and in 2013 became a Board Member of IMPALA. He co-founded the Westway LAB Festival in 2014, Portugal’s first professional music showcase festival and conference, and is presently the Conference Programme Director. He was also the Secretary Board Member of MMF Portugal between 2014-2016, at which point he became the Executive Director of the WHY Portugal music exchange platform, the Portuguese Export Office for music.
In 2018, Saraiva joined the EMEE Board, representing WHY Portugal, drawing on his extensive Canadian and international music business experience with the goal of promoting Portuguese and European music not just within European borders, cross-territory, but also beyond the EU borders, worldwide.
