We Care a Lot
Every year we focus on more and more topics with the aim to help the music scene and its “children” to make a living from their creative power.
With every passing day, it feels Music is losing a battle and losing its original obvious position – being the centre of creation through frequencies and harmonies. It seems Music is getting degraded back to non-disturbing background noise. It is now a kind of a soundtrack of the current demolition of all human values and the future of our children. It also seems like the once strong social – music powered-movements stopped being so vocal, got disorientated, crumpled and got controlled by interest groups that made them impotent with their message empty.
It’s not a final statement, just a very strong and red-letter reminder to remember music’s original purest aim is to get up and act loudly in confusing times of controversy:
- we never had that many creative projects around us and still we are easily getting lost in mass information,
- it’s never been as easy to get in touch with one another while old communities are broken and aching for a renewal,
- the public has changed and the old school isolation between music genres has melted away, however structurally, we are still having an obsolete mindset, with obsolete procedures … and so on …
- the philosophy of an alternative reality could only be manifested if we are able to act on it
New year – new venue – wider topics – more workshops – wider scopes!
With the aim of creating a sustainable music scene, that can lead the way to a better world. We believe that music – with all its aspects – is one of the answers and when it comes to us it has to start from it.
Many new achievements were accomplished this year. The Nouvelle Prague moved to a new location to tap into one of Prague’s new artsy neighborhoods: Holešovice. It now has dozens of new places, bars, cafes, galleries that have opened. With its new location, Nouvelle Prague opened a new chapter.
Although our basic aim is not to become a big event, due to the venue change we will have more programs to offer for our delegates.
One of the significant news of this year is the JUMP Music Accelerator project. JUMP is a Creative Europe supported initiation of six showcase events (MaMA Paris, MIL – Lisbon, Linecheck – Milan, Athens Music Week, UnConvention – Manchester and Nouvelle Prague) for nurturing innovative music sector projects. Due to his program 10 new projects will debut during NP, that can benefit many in the music sector.
This year Nouvelle Prague will also include more topics about labels, music recording opportunities, synch and music supervision. Nouvelle Prague will also once again host international delegations. Besides Austrian, Hungarian, Polish, Scottish professionals the event will also host the CEE meeting of Independent labels and managers.
Another new aspect we will also focus on how to collaborate and coordinate better music programs with tourism, and with the kind coordination of Olaf Furniss of Wide Days Edinburgh, we will also tap into that.
This year seems to offer many synchronicities too: several different levels of research has been happening both locally, regionally and within Europe to get better information on the music sector. As a result of that we will be able to not only show the results of the research but we will also explain how these data will change, and finetune our activities in the future.
The showcase concerts will be held at DOX+, and also at one of Prague’s gems of a club – Cross Club.
